The conversion of a thioacetal into an alkane in the presence of Raney nickel.

Desulfurization Explained:

The chemical process in which the removal of sulfur from a material occurs in certain conditions. The process is important as sulfur is used in industrial production, the removal of harmful sulfur is also very important to the environment particularly the removal of sulfur dioxide. As sulfur is removed in the process, it is replaced with Hydrogen turning into alkane form nickel in this case.
