Primary Alkyl Halide Definition:
Primary Alkyl Halide Explained:
A class of organic compounds that contain at least one halogen (atomic number 9 [F], chlorine [Atomic number 17], bromine [Br], or atomic number 53 [I]) bonded to atomic number 6. They are subdivided into alkyl, vinyl, aryl, and acyl group halide. In alkyl halide all four bonds to the carbon that bear the halogen are single bonds; in vinylic halides the carbon that bears the halogen is doubly bonded to another carbon.
